Martin Watts Head of Publications

Martin has been a professional archaeologist for over 20 years. After graduating in archaeology from Leicester University in 1987 he worked with the Department of Urban Archaeology at the Museum of London before joining Exeter Archaeology in 1994 where he became a Project Manager.

Martin joined CA in 2000 and became Head of Publications in 2003, a department which includes Post-Excavation, Finds, Environmental, Illustration and Geomatics sections. Martin is responsible for the delivery and quality of our publication output, and also directly contributes to many of our reports. He is also the editor of our Occasional Papers and Bristol and Gloucestershire Archaeological Reports series.

Martin has particular expertise in medieval and post-medieval urban archaeology, and has published on sites in Plymouth and Bristol. He is currently heavily involved in bringing a number of CA's major excavations in Bristol to publication.
